On May 9 the Armenian people celebrate as a Victory Day or Triple Holiday - the Victory of the Great Patriotic War, the Liberation of Shushi and the Anniversary of the Artsakh Defense Army's establishment․ The day itself symbolizes victory and peace։
The Armenian nation has given 4 marshals: Baghramyan, Babajanyan, Khudyakov (Khamperyants), Aghanov and one admiral of the USSR: Isakov. 70 thousand Armenian soldiers have been awarded combat orders and medals, 27 private soldiers have become recipients of the Order of Glory, 104 people have been awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Nelson Stepanyan has been awarded the title of twice Hero of the Soviet Union.
33 years ago, on the morning of May 9, Armenian troops successfully completed the "Wedding in the Mountains" operation, which resulted in the liberation of Shushi, breathing new life into the Armenian liberation spirit and achievements.
33 years ago, the Artsakh Defense Army was formed, and after numerous defeats, the period of brilliant victories of the Artsakh Army began.
This day should remind us of our achievements and help us move forward towards new victories.
