The Italian Media coverage (See: https://shorturl.at/okIayhttps://shorturl.at/SGsLt, etc.) on the International Education and Research Alliance (IERA) held in Bolzano, Italy, on September 22-24, 2024. During the 2024 General Assembly the cooperation initiated between the Union of Trade, Tourism and Services of South Tyrol and the European University of Armenia, describing it as a promising partnership with highly qualified IT personnel from Armenia.

The meeting was attended by Roland Psenner, President of Eurac Research, Stefan Ortner, Director of Eurac Research, Philipp Moser, President of the Trade, Tourism and Services Union of the South Tyrol, Artur Baghdasaryan, President of the International Education and Research Alliance - IERA, and Gunther Cologna, General Secretary of IERA, Heghine Bisharyan, Rector of the European University of Armenia, Vahram Samveli, Rector of the European University, the United Arab Emirates (EUA RAK CAMPUS, UAE), Arman Grigoryan, President of Innotech European Research Laboratories, many entrepreneurs and representatives of the IT Sector.

According to the Italian Media, "The main focus of the meeting was the lack of personnel, which can only worsen due to demographic change and the resulting more unstable labor market situation." As the President of the Union Moser notes, today it is very difficult to find qualified employees, especially in the IT sector. "The main role in solving this problem belongs to IERA, as a network of universities and research institutions, which promotes the exchange between the scientific and economic spheres of Europe and Armenia", says Moser. In particular, the European University of Armenia trains highly qualified IT specialists. The university offers degree programs in areas such as web and mobile development, cyber security, data analytics, AI and ML (artificial intelligence and machine learning), robotics, database systems, and quality assurance.

Thanks to this new axis between the Union and the EUA, it will be possible to make these valuable skills available to companies in South Tyrol as well. During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed, confirming the readiness of both sides to mutually provide their resources. "For companies in South Tyrol, this means not only facilitated access to IT professionals, but also significant cost savings, a factor that makes this partnership particularly interesting," emphasizes Moser. The President of the Union is particularly proud of this new partnership. "These reliable relations between Eurac and the European University of Armenia open up great opportunities for us. In the near future, we will organize a business trip to Armenia to learn first-hand the skills and opportunities on the ground. Thus, we will create a situation that will strengthen the economic potential of Armenia and at the same time our companies in South Tyrol will be offered the resources they urgently need". This partnership marks the beginning of a promising collaboration that can change the IT landscape of South Tyrol in the long term as well.
